VISUAL VINYL
Eine wunderschöne und umfassende Sammlung zur Ausstellung im Schunk-Museum (NL).
Auch Kenner finden einige interessante Beiträge. Daher freut es mich um so mehr, aufgeführt zu werden.
"Visual Vinyl is a major exhibition devoted to record cover art. This unique collection of LPs, singles and other vinyl rarities will be exhibited at SCHUNCK* from November 2015 onwards. The records form part of the collection of vinyl aficionado and collector, Jan van Toorn, and have never been on public display before.
Records and sleeves spanning four decades, with designs representing the work of over a thousand visual artists (with or without the collaboration of (pop) musicians) will be on show.
In addition to museum publications on vinyl by Joseph Beuys, Hermann Nitsch, Doug Aitken, Sarah Lucas and others, an LP (including lithographs) with electronic music created by Karel Appel will also be exhibited. There will also be signed albums from William Burroughs and editions from the sixties art magazine Aspen, with accompanying plastic gramophone records (flexidiscs) featuring music by the Velvet Underground, Morton Feldman and LaMonte Young, amongst others.
Likewise, Andy Warhol’s LPs for the Velvet Underground and the Rolling Stones or Jean-Michel Basquiat’s design for Rammelzee and K-Bop will also be prominent. Not to mention Salvador Dali, Damien Hirst, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Mark Ryden and all the record sleeves drawn by Raymond Pettibon, as well as Lady Gaga’s Artpop album with Jeff Koons’ design.
In short, Visual Vinyl pays tribute to the LP as an audiovisual art form."
